Tuesday the Silver City Town Council approved the purchase of the vacant lot on the corner of Kelly and Texas behind the Gila Theater for the purpose of a new parking lot. It's actually a bundle of 3 lots adding up to .171 acre or about 100 ft by 175 feet. It was stated before the vote that the Town will pay the appraised value of $52,143.00.

How many parking spaces does this property allow? Cost benefit analysis achieved prior to purchase? One hopes.
And what if any additional costs will be necessary? Lighting, signage, paving, striping, patrol perhaps.
The advantage of having parking available a block from Bullard is that folks will need to walk to stores, restaurants and events. thereby enjoying beneficial exercise.

The numbers above came from the Community Development Department but a previous owner informs me that the size is actually 75 ft by 100 ft and may park around 14 cars.

I do hope water retention/infiltration is addressed in the process.

The numbers given by the Town don't add up.

175x100= 17,500 square feet.

17,500 sq ft = .40 acres

.171 acres = 7,500 sq feet
75 x 100 = 7,500 sq feet

It looks like Crow's numbers are correct.
