First the good news, Silver City will chip seal about 5 miles (10 lane miles" of streets between August 4th and August 8th. Paid for by a Community Development BlocK Grant (CDBG). In an effort to prolong the life of a Chip Seal the grant included money to include a "Fog Seal" in an attempt to extend the life of the chip seal. A "Fog Seal" is an extra layer of some kind of "oil" sprayed on top of the chip seal. There are 71 lanes miles of streets in the 10 square miles of Silver City. In Pt 3b I'll cover costs of repaving that is soon to begin.

---- Begin Town Announcement of the Chip Seal Project---
The Town of Silver City Street Division will be chip sealing from August 4 through August 8 on the following town streets:

11th Street - from Pope Street to Hudson Street
12th Street - from Gold Street to Pope Street
16th Street - from Swan Street to Silver Heights Blvd.
17th Street - from Swan Street to Silver Heights Blvd.
21st Street - from Main Street to Juniper Street
23rd Street - from Pope Street to Juniper Street
25th Street - from Swan Street to Juniper Street
Broadway St. - from Gold Street to Hudson Street
Cactus Street - from Silver Heights Blvd. to 25th Street
Corbin Street - from 14th Street to Silver Heights Blvd.
Juniper Street - from Silver Heights Blvd. to 25th Street
Main Street - from Crescent Street to 21st Street
Pope Street - from 19th Street to 2011 Pope Street
Swan Street - from 12th Street to Broadway Street
Yucca Street - from Silver Heights Blvd. to Dead End

All vehicles must be moved off the street during construction. Signage will be made available to assist residents with detours and construction areas. Residents are asked to drive slowly and with caution in completed chip sealed streets as loose aggregate may exist. All loose aggregate will be swept off the streets the week of August 11 through 15. If you have any questions or need any further information on the chip seal project, please contact the Public Works Office at (575) 388-4640.

Are they EVER going to fix Little Walnut from 180 to Valley Rd. ? It's the worst of all IMO. Esp. dangerous for us cyclists.

At the risk of making an unwarranted assumption about the topic of Part 3B, I'll weigh in on the matter of old and disappearing trees.
There's one being removed from behind Light Hall today.
I know that these old trees can be hazardous, but the responsible solution is to remove and replace. We need trees in this town. Gough Park lost some last year and they have not been replaced.
Both the Town and WNMU have resources to plant trees. Lord knows they will get watered sufficiently.
