Sunday, on the last day of the Clay Fest 2015, 3 recently completed Mosaic Murals were dedicated. Over the past 2 weeks, ending Friday, the annual Clay Camp installed this mosaic on the Orno pedestal at The Commons. The Orno itself had been constructed at the first Clay Fest. Just before the Clay Camp began the counters were built and the surfaces were Mosaic't during the camp.

One of the camp participants admires the work on the counter while he waits for pizza cooking in the Orno to begin during the dedication.

This mural, also at The Commons, was begun over a year ago with the making of the tiles by students at schools throughout Grant County. All totaled 1,000 kids and adults participated in various stages of the project. This photo shows less than half of the length as this saying is repeated in spanish then makes a turn at the front entrance. This can to seen from 13th St (between Corbin and Swan).

At the end of the L shaped wall in the above photo; all the tiles, other than the letters of the words (also tiles), are images of fruits and vegetables.

After the above dedication the recently finished paint and mosaic mural at the Silver City Recreation Center was dedicated. This south wall is 120 feet long with painted silhouettes of children playing is also on 2 sections on either side of the front entrance. Here on the south side is a mosaic below the painted area.

Tiles were made by school children also. A few hundred, counting the school children at their respective schools making tiles, took part in this mural.

Community members of all ages, mostly children, contributing to most of the Mosaics around Silver City (also in Gila and Glenwood) adds value beyond the art and beauty making them truly community projects.
