Neighborhood Electric Vehicles in our future? That's up to us as a community. " The world is run by those who show up". Silver City's first meeting will be Tuesday, Nov. 9 5-6pm in the Roadrunner room at the Grant County Business and Convention Center Building on the north side of the main hall.

What is the potential for them here? How much would an old small car cost to convert it? Like most people, are most of your trips under 20 miles? What are the business opportunities of doing conversions? Is there a market? How big? How about conversions for bicycles? Any other ideas?
Please come contribute to the energy and conversation.

Mike, I have spoke to a few people about setting up an NEV dealership, no one has had any interest. The most common concern with users is the daily mileage they can get from the vehicle, they do not want to be stranded. Gem car has some of the strongest sales in the US and Miles is also making sales with its demo program. Town of Silver City owns two with quick charger. Many communities in Southern New Mexico are great for NEV use, small with mild weather. I believe the key for the the SW area is a dealership with mechanical support. Getting an NEV to SC is about $400.00 from Ca. Hope the idea catches on, when my Bronco dies I will probable purchase a demo Miles truck.

Do you want a push up the hills on your bicycle? The Bike Works is putting together an order of electric bike kits from a company called Clean Republic. The retrofit kit is called the Hill Topper. This is a simple kit that consists of a motorized front wheel, a battery (different range options), and a grip-mounted throttle. We have searched for a quality kit that is reasonable in price and I feel that we have found one here. Go to www.cleanrepublic.com for details and options. We are becoming a dealer for these kits and need several orders to get started. If you are interested, call The Bike Works at 388-1444. Thanks!
