During Black History month it is important to focus on issues strongly impacting the lives of minorities. To this end, we invite you to join us in the Miller Library at 6pm, Wednesday, February 21st for a spirited discussion of the not good, the really bad and the ugly aspects of Gerrymandering.

" Gerrymandering is the drawing of electoral district lines that discriminate against a political party or a racial minority,” says Frances Vasquez, Chair of the Grant County Democratic Party. “This practice has gone on for way too many years, and can rob citizens of their legitimate participation in our democracy.”

Wednesday’s program is presented by WNMU’s Black Student Union, M.E.Ch.A, Young Democrats and the Grant County Democratic Party. Doctor Damon J. Bullock, Professor of Criminal Justice, will lead the discussion. Dr. Bullock will be joined by Presenters: Leron Reed from the Black Student Union; Dr. Christina Volatier Sanchez, Professor of Sociology; Judge Timothy L. Aldrich, 6th Judicial District Court; and community member Della N. Acosta.

What: A discussion on election rigging via redistricting.

When: 6pm, Wednesday February 21, 2018 (*please note the Wednesday date, rather than our usual Thursday Forum).

Where: Miller Library WNMU.

Why: Because fairness and equality should be the guiding lights of our voting system.

For more information, contact the Grant County Democratic Party at 575-654-6060, or email grantcountydemocrats@gmail.com, or see our webpage for this and more events vital to your quality of life - https://sites.google.com/site/nmcd2democraticvoices/.
