State Representative Stephanie Garcia Richard, Chair of the New Mexico House Education Committee, and candidate for New Mexico Land Commissioner will be returning to her hometown of Silver City Friday, February 16th for a meet & greet at the Little Toad Creek Brewery at 6pm.

Stephanie Garcia Richard who grew up in Silver City, and is the daughter of Jerry Richard and Norma Garcia Richard serves as the state representative for House District 43, which encompasses the Jemez mountain range in the northern part of the state. She is running to become the first woman to be elected as the state land commissioner. Garcia Richard is running for the state land office as it is the primary agency responsible for generating revenues to fund New Mexico’s schools, universities, some hospitals and other services. As a 3-term legislator, Garcia Richard is the only candidate in the race to have served on the budget and financing committees, as well as chair of key committees that oversee every beneficiary the land office funds in NM. This includes CYFD, our universities, hospitals and every single public school.

As an educator with 18 years experience, Garcia Richard states she is committed to fully funding education, particularly universal early childhood education. She is currently the sponosor of HJR1 to use a portion of the interest of the permanent fund to fully fund pre-k for all New Mexicans.
