Post subject:  Seeking Progressive Candidates

Important informational meeting Saturday, Feb. 3rd

The most important action you can take in the coming election year is to run for office, and persuade others to run for office.

Current commissioners for Districts 1 and 2 (Ramos and Kasten) will be term limited out at the end of this year. Now is the time to consider running for this local position of county commissioner (or, at the very least, persuading someone else to run)! Those wonderful Virginia election results would never have happened without dozens and dozens of individuals like yourself stepping up and running for public office for the first time in their lives.

To run for county commissioner, you must reside in the District you seek to represent. See maps delineating District 1 (Brewer Hill, Arenas Valley, Santa Clara) here: http://www.grantcountynm.com/grant_coun ... hp?CID=362
and District 2 here: http://www.grantcountynm.com/grant_coun ... hp?CID=364
(Bayard, Hurley, Mimbres).

If you live in District 1 or District 2, PLEASE seriously consider running, and also help find other good candidates to run.

To aid you in considering the possibility of your own candidacy and/or in persuading others to run, there will be an informational meeting describing both (1) what the job of commissioner entails, and (2) what an election campaign for this position involves. Current Commissioners Harry Browne and Alicia Edwards will share their knowledge about running a campaign and about being a commissioner. The meeting is Saturday, Feb 3rd, 12 - 2pm, at the Silver City Public Library -- MARK YOUR CALENDAR!

Time is of the essence. Candidates must declare on March 13th. The primary election is June 5, and the general election is Nov. 6. Come and help find good progressive candidates for our county commission!
