Donna Brazille has wrtten an explosive new book outlining what she presumes are actions taken by Hillary Clinton to control the decisions and operations of the Democratic Party in the last election; decisions that were detrimental to the campaign of her opponent for the Democratic nomination, Bernie Sanders. The reality and circumstances of her claim are disputed (by many) but the damage done by her ‘revelations’ has caused great pain and splintering to the Dem Party at a time when unity is essential to remove a sociopath from the White House before he destroys everything; not just politics as usual or ‘the swamp’ or too many rules and regulations on business, etc. I mean before he destroys everything that is not favorable to Donald Trump, Russian emissary to the former United States of America.

Bernie Sanders has jump-started a powerful movement on the Left; a force that was once old is new again. What was viewed as an abandonment of the best of our nature has been invigorated by Bernie and his supporters. American politics has a new and powerful voice; the voice of the young, the hopeful and the energetic.

I loved Bernie, but he has never gotten anyone elected to public office except himself. He is an Independent, a fine man, and a fierce proponent of the righteous. But for better or worse, he is not political. To some, this is a litmus test for ideological purity. To others it is a damning vulnerability that will surely re-elect Donald Trump.

Whether or not you supported Hillary in the election, you cannot say that her hard work and devotion to children and families around the world should be ignored, and you cannot say that her work for equal rights for the LGBT community should be ignored, and you cannot say that she spent thousands of hours of her life as a First Lady, Senator, and Secretary of State just to make money or get power or fame. She worked emotionally, strategically, and politically to achieve her goals. If you think she is a crook or a charlatan or a liar, that’s up to you. Buy if you do, you have to ask yourself ‘what have I done?’ and compare the two.

I have read a slew of Richard's entries here and have found them on target, but see him as having missed the mark when asking what we have done in comparison to Hillary Clinton. Of course she is superior to Trump and of course she had done far more than any of us. But that is not the question. What has she done in view of our expectations of a responsible, progressive democrat? She is a hawk. She foolishly accepted tainted funds for her foundation. She lied about her emails. She exploited her influence with the DNC and her daughter is a mult-imillionaire. I will vote for her again, in a heart beat if the choice is between her and any one of the wacky Republicans, but Democrats will continue to flounder so long as we white-wash our sins. Sadly, this old adage still holds true: "Democrats fall in love, Republicans fall in line." Best Democrats do better. A.T. Cole

Hillary Clinton voted to authorize the Iraq War and for the so-called "Patriot" Act. That should have permanently disqualified her as a Democratic candidate for anything. I voted for her under protest as the lesser of evils. But a party that nominates a candidate capable of losing to Donald Trump is a party in trouble. Democrats need to do some serious soul searching. If Donna Brazille's book is what it takes to start that searching, so be it. But they had better work it out fast. Many of us are far beyond the petty squabbling of either party. The sooner these two bad parties finish self-destructing, the sooner we will be forced to start the hard work of creating a new party that has some relation to the concerns of real people.
