Last week a survey crew was transiting Market and Yankee, Texas and Arizona Strs in preparation for sidewalk fixes within the boundaries of those streets. According to Public Works Peter Peña all 4 corners of every intersection will get an ADA compliant ramp and any damaged section of sidewalk will get repaired. During the January 2015 Session the NM State Legislature allocated $100,000 towards the project; in October/November the contract (like a promissory note) was signed by the Town and State Peña is hoping that this money will complete 2 blocks from Bullard to Arizona on Market St by the beginning of Winter.
The January 2016 Legislature allocated $125,000 to Phase 2 but that contract won't to signed until around October 2016 with work to continue in the summer of 2017. To complete the job will require a 3rd allocation from the January 2017 legislature.
