Wednesday the last of the 50 girders were placed. This is the view from the south approach to the bridge heading into Silver City. Though it has been difficult getting exact numbers I can, knowing the length of the girders etc, calculate the approximate length at 600 feet; approximately 50 to 100 feet longer than the old bridge as the abutments were moved apart and set more into the hillside. Those posts sitting atop the girders are for safety, a cable runs the full length of each girder between the posts and the workers are tethered to the cables.

A closer look at the south end with the girders seated on the abutment. The plywood on the left is part of the concrete forms to raise the abutment up between the girders. The steel plates, I put a red dot on one, tie the girders together and provide a surface for the road base, see photo below.
