During the last national Peoples Climate Action 400,000 marched in New York, this year the national organizers felt the need to hear from the youth as they have the most to lose or the most to gain. The purpose is to send a message to world leaders to pledge and take serious action at the upcoming Paris Climate Talks of November 28-December 3, 2015 and beyond. Local organizers were found in 150 towns and cities including Nick Sussillo in Silver City. See the Wednesday event schedule below.

The first thing Nick did was bring together what he calls "The Reconstituted Sustainability Task Force" who, in its previous incarnation wrote the "Silver City Sustainability Plan 2030", which was approved by the Town Council, and organizing began in ernest. The town got on board through their Office Of Sustainability, WNMU got on board with the free use of Light Hall, for three afternoon and evening programs, as did The Commons aka the Grant County Volunteer Center. The group decided to call the local event "Youth and Climate Justice".

Whether you call it Global Warming, Climate Change or just live in denial we all want clean air, clean water and and clean cheap energy and fuels and when we achieve this inalienable right we have "Climate Justice".

According to Nick Sussillo Aldo High School will send their 9th and 10th graders, Sliver High was emailed with no response and Opportunity High School (OHS) was not contacted because of a misunderstanding of who those students really are. By far the smallest high school in Silver City and the mining district OSH students, independent minded, misfits, trouble makers and teen moms, earned more college credits than any other school in Grant County last year, perhaps someone can reach out to Principal Ping(?) and or the teachers.

Based on the level of local organizing, 16 places were designated an "Anchor City" and Silver City is on the list.

1:30 – 2:30 Volunteer Center located at 501 E 13th St with youth activities
2:45 - 3:45pm Silver City Office of Sustainability at 1106 Pope Street with a march to Light Hall, WNMU campus, College St at 3:45pm.
4:00 – 4:45pm Finger Food, Latin Jazz by Joe & Danny in the Courtyard of Light Hall, WNMU campus, College St.
5:00 - 6:30pm Climate video with youth panel, and speakers, Light Hall, WNMU Campus, College St.
6:30 – 7:30pm Youth and Senior official event, Light Hall, WNMU Campus, College St.
