The bridge is down to 2 lanes today and a subcontractor for bridge bilder IHC, Hasse Contracting of Albuquerque began smoothing down all those jagged grooves that were cut across the roadway for increased traction by those who placed the roadway concrete and din't finish the job properly. The surface will then get sealed with a mixture of epoxy and sand according to a worker on the job.

The machine above is blasting the surface with steel pebbles about the size of BB's while the 2 guys below are pushing around large magnets to recover those steel BB's.

Below, by early afternoon this truck was used to spray the surface with the epoxy and sand setting up a huge and continuos cloud of mist that had a strong chemical smell making a slurry of epoxy chemicals mixed with concrete dust, rock dust and fine sand; I suggest thoske using the bridge to close their windows.

The spraying only lasted about 2 or 3 hours and covered less then half the length of the northbound lanes because the temperature was dropping and the road surface has to be 60 degrees or above for a certain length time for the epoxy to cure properly, They will be back Thursday morning when the road surface reaches 60 degrees on a predicted cloudy morning.

I don't understand the DOT processes, there is not a day that goes by that I don;t receive multiple notices from the DOT about road closures, lane closures and work being done but never for any work to the 90 Bridge. In all my conversations with the DOT project supervisor and the chief Bridge Engineer they both alway said, as reported here, that the bridge would be washed then seale, but it was ground smoother then sealed, never washed.
