90 Bridge, So much To Do So Little Time
Image
Tuesday slightly less than half of the North bound lanes and sidewalk got their 8.5 inches of concrete and today, Thursday the rest of those lanes will have concrete placed. Next week, Wednesday and Friday the South bound lanes will have concrete placed, leaving 1 week before penalties begin. The new plan is to have the North bound lanes open by the 18th and to that end a number of projects are proceeding in earnest as shown below; first the above photo:

On the far side of the bridge can be seen the rebar "fence" that will get concrete after the the rest if the road and sidewalk concrete is placed and cured and will be the barrier wall between the roadway and sidewalk. First electrical conduit for the 3 street lights is being installed at the base of the barrier wall on that east side of the bridge and some of the workers on the bridge are electricians ; that work was begun on Wednesday.

Image
This photo for orientation: 300 feet of highway 90 asphalt and sidewalk is being removed; all the way to the orange barrel in the lower right of the photo and to its left is a fire hydrant. Note the turquoise green porta-potty on the far right and the loader near it, these will come up again.

Image
This shows the huge pile of asphalt and sidewalk in the southbound lanes and in the lower left an entrance into the stripmall parking lot that will be removed and a few feet more to the orange barrel. The North bound lanes that they hope to open by the 18th are still blocked by that huge pile of rip-rap on the left and other piles of dirt, perhaps new road base.

Image
To the right is the port-potty shown above and to its left a rebar cage for a street light and electrical feed for the southbound lanes street lights. Though the removal must be completed before next wednesday's Southbound lanes and sidewalk concrete placement similar work on the Northbound lanes has not been started for its 18th opening.
