Early Tuesday morning the crews began placing the concrete roadway on the bridge. By late morning just before noon they had placed not quite 1/4 the length of the northbound lanes. There are 2 pumper trucks, the smaller one is pumping the delivery from the cement truck in the lower left which offloads into a hopper in the pump truck then is pumped onto the bridge. Monday morning the propane heater hanging under the bridge had been lit in an attempt to raise the temperature of the rebar and steel plates beneath to a minimum of 45 degrees; they had to wait as the nighttime temperatures had dipped into the 20"s.

By about 4:30pm they were just finishing but short of the halfway point. The pumper parked 60 feet under the bridge had been pumping since the smaller pumper above achieved its maximum reach.

A view from the south end of the bridge; they were moving backwards me. About 5 pm the concrete and the crew scrambled into the night covering the concrete with burlap, soaker hoses (to prevent dry out) then plastic and 2 layers of thick blankets to prevent the concrete from cooling below 45 degrees as the temperature rapidly plummeted.

Friday is scheduled for the rest of the north bound lanes and sidewalk. In a week or more the southbound lanes will be started. After the roadway concrete is sufficiently cured the concrete barrier walls between both sidewalks and the roadway will be finished as will the anti jumper fences be installed then there are the street lights. Will they finish by the 18th? Doubtful, highly unlikely, but thats ok guys, just don't cut any corners.
